Roll out the Red Carpet Gala !  A Spectacular Finale to the Children's Brick Street Film Festival!

Walk the Red Carpet as the paparazzi cameras flash!  You will be the star of the evening!

We invite you to join us on Saturday, August 14, 2010, from 7:00-11:00 p.m. at the Cascades Golf and Country Club for the Red Carpet Gala benefitting Parent Services Center, Inc.

Dance to the music of The George Faber Band, see regional independent films, meet the filmmakers and actors while you enjoy a delicious buffet and drinks. You will even have the opportunity to pose with a favorite Hollywood actor (cutout) and capture the evening for a lifetime! It’s all in the spirit of good, family fun for a very worthy cause.

Funds from your participation will enable Parent Services Center to continue to support and expand our proactive parent education programs. We believe in making our families stronger by reaching them before breakdown occurs with the outcome of healthy, happy children.  If we reach the parent, we reach the child.

The Gala is a finale to the children’s Brick Street Film Festival which will be held the day before, August 13. Because Parent Services Center believes that much of today’s media has negative outcomes for our families, we have contracted with KIDS FIRST! to obtain quality, family  movies.

Over the summer students from participating Tyler daycare centers will view the movies and learn to be wise consumers of media. The students will even develop their own film or journalism project. At the Brick Street Festival, their projects will be recognized and selected projects will be showcased during the festival and at the Gala on Saturday.

If you like, come dressed as your favorite movie character or actor and make it a really fun evening. And don’t forget to invite your friends.

Parent Services Announces New Executive Director

Shelley Judd began work as Parent Services Center's Executive Director on January 1.  Camille Brown, PSC Board President said, "Shelley is a strong administrator with extensive knowledge in fundraising, public relations, management and adult education."

     Ms. Judd has over 30 years experience working to strengthen the families of our community.  She has held multiple positions with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Child Care Licensing Division.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts, Sociology/Psychology with Social Work emphasis and a Master of Science in Child Development/Family Living from Texas Woman's University. Ms. Judd also has an extensive background of professional and community involvement as a member of the Tyler Independent School District At-Risk Coalition, the Advisory Board of Child Care  Management Services, the Tyler Junior College Child Development Department, and board member and past president of the Tyler Association for the Education of Young Children. “It was a blessing to take the reigns of an agency with an established track record of excellence and with highly competent staff” said Shelley.

Parent Services Announces New Program Director

"Selecting Mille Tanner as Program Director was icing on the cake,” said Executive Director Shelley Judd. “We have formed a dynamic, hard working team and are expanding program offerings and developing new avenues of services and funding.” Millie began work on March 1, 2010. She has a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. In the past she has worked in the community college setting, with students with special needs. Outside Parent Services Center, Millie works as a therapist at Grace Counseling Center. At home she is wife of Steve and mother of twin boys, Luke and Jake.

Autism Support Group

An Autism Support Group for parents of Autistic children meets every first Tuesday night from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 4900 Kinsey Drive, Tyler, Texas.  The support group is sponsored by the ARC of Smith County and Parent Services Center. For information or to register, call 903-595-2235.  Childcare is provided.
