- Fall Symposium Slated - Understanding
the Autism Spectrum
- Parent Services Center, Inc. is pleased to announce a fall symposium,
"Understanding the Autism Spectrum," on Saturday, October 25, 2008, from
9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The symposium will be held in Room 401 in the
Robert R. Muntz Library on the Campus of the University of Texas at Tyler.
Early registration prior to October 16th is just $10. Professional
CEU's are also available. The symposium will highlight the role of
various disciplines in the understanding, assessment and treatment of
disorders within the Autism Spectrum. Parents, clinicians, teachers and all
of those who care for children will gain an increased understanding of this
pervasive developmental disorder and resources in the East Texas area.
Jana Sisk, LCSW, Executive Director of Parent Services Center, will serve as
moderator. Featured panelists include Wilson Renfroe, Psy.D.; Ray
Scardina, MD, FAPA; Suzanne Herman, M.Ed. CCC/SLP; LeAnn Cargile, OTR,SIPT
Certified; Patricia Hadley, Physical Therapist, C-SIPT; and Donna Mullinnix,

- Autism Support Group
- An Autism Support Group for parents of Autistic children meets every
first Monday night from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. (new time begins with the
September 8 meeting) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 4900 Kinsey Drive,
Tyler, Texas. The support group is sponsored by the ARC of Smith
County and Parent Services Center. For information or to register, call
903-595-2235. Childcare is provided.
