Parenting Puzzle

The Weekly Parenting Puzzle Column in the Wednesday edition of the Tyler Morning Telegraph which offers parenting information and tips.

Parent Support Groups
Facilitated by licensed professionals, the Parent Services Center support groups offer help to people who share a similar problem or concern dealing with family issues. The people in the group share experiences, knowledge and information. Examples of support groups that have been offered include: Support Groups for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and Support groups for parents whose children have been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD or Bi-polar disorder.

Lending Library

Lending Library with numerous books on parenting including such topics as communication, self-esteem, family dynamics, differing learning styles, and effective discipline.

Education classes – PSC offers educational classes for parents, foster parent, grandparents raising grandchildren, childcare providers, teachers, and mental health providers. Topics range from birth through young adulthood and cover normal developmental or family issues such as discipline or anger management as well as specialty issues such as ADHD, Autism or BI-polar disorders. These are primarily non sequential/stand alone classes that are provided free of charge by licensed professionals in their area of expertise. 

In-Service trainings or contract classes –Specific Assessment & consultations resulting in classes designed to meet the needs of a specific agency, church or school. 

Annual Conference – Offered at a rate affordable to all, Parent Services Center's speaker's conference features an internationally known speaker and author on current topics for parents, foster parents, grandparents, childcare providers, teachers, and mental health professionals. Professional CEU's are provided for an additional fee ($25). 

Symposiums - Parent Services Center's symposiums feature a panel of local professionals speaking on more specific topics that relate to parenting.  The symposium is offered for a minimal fee to parents, counselors, pediatricians, childcare workers, and local churches and agencies.  CEU's are also provided for an additional fee. 

Information and Referral Services - Parent Services Center serves as a link between those who have a need and other agencies and individuals who can help meet their specific needs which are not provided by our agency.
