How Can I Volunteer?  

Parent Services Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency.  It is led by a Policy Board consisting of individuals who volunteer their time.  All of the Center's classes and support groups are, likewise, led by trained professionals from the community who share their time and expertise.  By lending a hand, you can make a difference in the lives of others.

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities at the Center:

  • Class Instructors: Professionals in their respective fields who lead parent education classes, covering a wide range of topics from birth through young adulthood, including normal developmental and specialty issues.

  • Classroom Facilitators:  Friendly, organized individuals willing to do everything necessary from signing in class participants to introducing the speaker.  Essential for keeping things running smoothly.

  • Support Group Leaders: Professionals who are willing to facilitate support groups, such as ADHD Support Groups, Bipolar Support Groups, Autism Support Group, grandparents rearing grandchildren, etc.

  • Office Support-Persons who can function as a receptionist, answer telephones, file, research, provide data entries, and help with mailings.

  • Marketing: Persons with expertise in marketing and public relations to help educate the community about the Center's programs, services, and needs.  Staffs PSC community resource tables.

  • Creative Writers: To write articles, media releases, newsletter, advertising brochures, etc.

  • Librarian: To enter new books into the Center's inventory and prepare the books for shelving. Includes finding Dewey Decimal number, preparing checkout cards, pocket envelopes, stamping materials, covering books, and shelving returned books.

  • Curriculum Researcher/Developer. One who can write curriculum for classes, including learning objectives, activities, handouts, resources, and suggestions of books to read.

  • Fundraising: Persons willing to contact businesses, corporations, foundations, civic groups, and individuals for funds to carry out the work of PSC.

  • Special Events: Volunteers to help plan, coordinate and execute special events to raise funds for PSC programs. Work with special event committee to plan the events and evaluate the event's success.

  • Grant Writers: To research corporations and foundations for possible grant programs; prepare the needs assessment and write grants for funds to operate the agency and its programs. Would also provide follow-up to the foundations to track the grants written.

We welcome your help as a volunteer at Parent Services Center . The Center's time for volunteer hours is flexible and may be planned around the volunteer's schedule for mornings, afternoons, or evenings.   Projects for volunteers may be short-term or on-going, depending upon the needs of the agency and the wishes of the volunteer.
